DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH
💎 There are lot of predictions for what's next in this industry. Everyone knows TikTok is on the rise, but another huge trend is influencers stepping AWAY from branded content to connect with their audiences and make money on their own terms.
💎 If you want to get serious about your IG content in 2020 you need to think about longer captions and creating series on IGTV. One of the more concerning predictions is that brands will be using more UGC which may mean they need to hire less influencers.

GOLD MINE
💰 This influencer couple built an island villa. That's pretty baller, but when you realize they can also rent it out to brands for events and put it up on airbnb, that makes it even more amazing.
💰 These women have a Facebook group where they just post Amazon products. And when people buy, ding ding ding, they make commission! Facebook groups are the move people.
💰 You all know Ryan from Ryan's Toy Review. Well he got into licensing and his toys will make $150 million this year. Again branded content is great but the goal should always be your own products and services.
💰 I mean Emma Chamberlain has coffee. She loves coffee so much she literally went out and made a coffee brand. This is why I get a little angry when you guys want to focus way too much time and energy on landing a $2500 brand deal with Starbucks. Yes that's a great starting point, but then what's next? Emma only needs to sell 55 units of her travel bundle to make that same amount. You know 55 people who would buy a mug from you. THINK BIGGER!
[It is FREEZING in NY and I CANNOT WAIT to hit the road for my brand building workshop. I'm headed to LA, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, and Montreal. Hope to see you there!]
BLACK LUNG
⚫ I could have made a roundup of the worst influencer moments of 2019, but BI already took care of it. From the girl who called the police when Instagram deleted her account to a 58-year-old woman who was using filters to look like a teenager, just throw the whole decade away and let's start over in 2020.
⚫ A bunch of celebs and influencers were paid to attend a festival in Saudi Arabia and the internet was not having it. While everyone has their own opinion, I am just here for Ryan Phillippe and his angry clapbacks.
⚫ The Cut also has a roundup of hot mess influencer news in case you forgot about Jaclyn Hill's moldy lipstick, James vs. Tati, and the influencer who got into a motorcycle accident and it looked sponsored.
Take a look at these events and learn the lessons. We're all human but these people are making mistakes on big social stages so you don't have to!
